Episode 2: Cake to the Face
Thanks for listening last week! We were overwhelmed by your support and are so happy you enjoyed the show. Exciting news—we are now on iTunes. Please subscribe and tell your friends!
We hope you will tune in again this week as we discuss the New Hampshire Primary with FiveThirtyEight’s Harry Enten, review our favorite moments from the Super Bowl, and reflect on our epic singledom in advance of Valentine’s Day. Some things are better (read: Harry) and some things are worse (read: Al’s extreme use of the world “like”). We are still getting the hang of this and hope you’ll come along for the ride. As always, we would love feedback (e.g., split this into two 30 minute eps!) and hope you’ll send articles and ideas our way!
Before you read anything else on the Internet this week, please…
Read about Louisiana cutting funding for the TOPS college scholarship program. Al used to teach high school in Louisiana, and this program is critical to the livelihood of her students and thousands of others.
“White Iverson” by Post Malone (Great basketball references in honor of All Star weekend. Whatever you do, do not Google image Post Malone. He looks like Peter Pettigrew. Harsh, but true.)
“Pass Dat” by Jermih (If you’d like to send us a voice recording of your best guess at how to pronounce Jeremih, we wouldn’t hate it. Also, he can do no wrong.)
Beyonce dropped her new single in advance of the Super Bowl with an incredibly powerful video. The discussion of the song and the video has been incredibly rich covering everything from her use of Katrina to what this means for movements like Black Lives Matter. We recommend you spend half a day and read it all.
Kanye West took over MSG yesterday to debut Yeezy Season 3 and his album, “The Life of Pablo.” The Internet is full of articles about the collection, Lamar’s appearance, and the music. Even with all of that, our biggest question is—is TSwift’s publicist really named Tree Paine? Also, Kanye has taken to Twitter with a list of grievances again. Enjoy.
No “JK” here. Harry Potter Part 8 is coming out this summer. Will she ever hang up the Nimbus 2000?
It’s fine, Huma, we get it. We don’t like hugs either.
FiveThirtyEight had a great SlackChat about the GOP primary. Check it out!
As if his MVP speech wasn’t endearing enough, KD rolled up his sleeves and worked as a sideline photographer at the Super Bowl.
Knicks fired head coach Derek Fisher. Rumor has it PB&J crusader and current Warriors Assistant Coach Luke Walton is in the running. Go Luke! #freepbandj
Do you have an extra $35K lying around? If so, pre-order a Tesla Model 3 on March 31st!
Christine Emba from The Washington Post (friend of a friend of The Replay, Reilly) wrote a great piece on singledom ahead of Valentine’s Day. Her stuff is always awesome, and this one resonated with us deeply.
We are all about Ellen here at The Replay. She did it once again with President Obama sending Michelle a sensual Valentine’s Day message. Sasha and Malia are definitely running away from home as you read this.
As discussed on the podcast, Marshawn Lynch’s E60 is a must watch. In particular, around 7:40. We will miss you, Marshawn! Go Bears!
